GreenScapes 2026: Did Queensland’s newest landscape industry show deliver?

Held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on 5–6 August 2026, the inaugural GreenScapes + Green Expo brought together more than 2,000 registered visitors and over 180 exhibitors from a broad mix of landscape industries. Street Furniture Australia was among them.

For us, it was also something of a first. With a new Queensland team, there was plenty of excitement and a few unknowns leading up to the show.

“We were unsure of the type of crowd that would come through, or how many people would visit our stand,” says Queensland Business Development Manager Lisa McPherson.

So, did the first GreenScapes deliver?

Why did Queensland need GreenScapes?

Launched alongside Green Expo, GreenScapes brought green life, horticulture, landscaping and landscape architecture together under one roof. For Rebecca Lloyd-Jones, Event Manager at Expertise Events, this was a major accomplishment.

“If you’re a landscaper who specifies or has a project, you’ll need hard materials, tools and equipment. You’ll need to specify plants too. To have all these things so readily available at such a scale was very unique,” Lloyd-Jones says.

For exhibitors, there was also a sense that Queensland had been missing an event of its own, particularly with so much happening across the state’s built environment.

Who came to GreenScapes?

GreenScapes’ first day started with high energy and consistent foot traffic, while day two was quieter, allowing for longer, one-on-one technical discussions. Although centred on Queensland, GreenScapes attracted visitors from across Australia, including Western Australia, Tasmania, the Northern Territory and New South Wales.

For QLD Business Development Managers Mel West and Lisa McPherson, the event provided an opportunity to meet design and government communities face-to-face and reconnect with clients.

“It gave us good visibility,” says Mel. “It was a great turnout and good to show off our products in real life.”

What did visitors find at Street Furniture Australia’s booth?

Designed to function as a showroom, the stand showcased a broad selection from the Linea, Piatto and Aria ranges, giving local specifiers the chance to sit on the furniture, assess its build quality and experience different finishes in person.

Material performance quickly became a key topic. Visitors compared Raw WoodPlus™ battens with Aluminium Woodgrain (Wood Without Worry), discussing how each option could perform in public spaces. Council teams were particularly interested in operational longevity, with Aluminium Woodgrain proving relevant for high-traffic, low-maintenance environments. The new Aria Bin also attracted attention for its customisable, interchangeable panel system.

An interactive game added a fun element to the stand, with 51 successful entries going into the lucky draw to win a Piatto Setting.

How could Greenscapes be improved?

For all its successes, there are opportunities for improvement at GreenScapes 2027. For example the visibility and positioning of the education program. Some floor talks were located away from the main flow of the event, making them easy to miss for visitors who had not specifically planned to attend — a pity when valuable industry knowledge was being shared.

For Mel, the event would benefit from bringing more of the design side of the industry in to help shape the education program, including the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA).

Lloyd-Jones was impressed by how engaged the landscape industry is on social media. The event saw people creating content, supporting each other and getting behind the new show — something GreenScapes can build on in 2027.
