“A good city is like a good party – people stay because they are enjoying themselves.” – Jan Gehl
Bar height seating invites casual social interaction and supports a variety of uses – from quick breaks to group hangouts – while accommodating flow in busy urban spaces.
Ideal for transitional zones where activities overlap, like transport hubs, food precincts or parks adjacent to cafes, bar furniture can support casual moments of rest, laptop work or outdoor dining.
The elevated sight-lines lend perfectly to projects that overlook a view or people-watching.
Introducing Piatto Bar Stool
Piatto Bar Stool with aluminium Spotted Gum battens (left, right) and solid top (middle) with Textura Core Ten frames. Shown with Linea Bar Table and Frame Planter.
New to the Piatto range is the Piatto Bar Stool. Incorporating 30 years of learnings from our Cafe range, this bar stool is stronger, more versatile, and has applications for a wider variety of contemporary environments.
It also looks great, its cast aluminium frame elegantly encasing and protecting battens with a stylish wine glass silhouette.
The wine glass profile of the battened seat appeals both in form and function – rounded edges reduce the chance of injury from bumps, making it a safer choice for children’s parks and play spaces.
Our engineers have made this stool more vandal resistant by using concealed gussets and a pipe that is 66% thicker, applying rigorous testing to ensure durability in public space.
Piatto Bar Stool can be specified as fixed or freestanding (see Technical Sheet). For freestanding, a weighted base enhances stability and reduces the chance of tipping. This product can later be fixed, should the custodian require flexibility for future projects.
After several footrest iterations, a 360 degree footrest was selected to simplify the installation process, as it can be fixed in any direction.
Solid or battened tops are available, with two batten profiles: 63x30mm (to match Linea, Aria and Mall range) or 85x30mm (matching Piatto and Park range).
Ideal for casual group hangouts. Linea is sleek and minimalist yet extremely strong with 6-8mm stainless steel frames. Available with a battened or solid table top in various lengths and colours.
Linea Bar Lookout Table

With the look and feel of natural timber, backed by 12 months of performance testing for the public realm, engineered wood joins Street Furniture Australia’s selection of batten materials. Designers and place custodians can now choose from three batten options to achieve a timber look: natural Spotted Gum hardwood, low maintenance aluminium Wood Without Worry, and engineered wood known as Onewood HRT.
