Street Furniture Australia and US partner Spruce & Gander in March hosted landscape architects from California and Texas on a visit to Sydney to experience a factory tour, site visits and a new product launch.

The American landscape architects represented MJS Landscape Architecture, RHAA Landscape Architecture + Planning, TBG Partners, Avid Trails and Ten Eyck Landscape Architects.

Over a week-long trip the guests were treated to famous sights of Sydney including the iconic Bondi Beach, a harbour cruise and dining at top restaurants in urban Surry Hills and the new Barangaroo precinct.

Travelling to Regents Park in Western Sydney, they toured the Street Furniture Australia factory to see first-hand how products are designed, made and shipped all over the world. This included meeting the production team, industrial designers and engineers.

TBG Partners Associate Brennan Dedon said: “The tour was great and at a high level. We were so impressed with the team’s dedication, humility and the genuine connections they made with us.”

The US guests then mingled with 120 local landscape architects at Street Furniture Australia’s annual product launch and cocktail event, Jazz at The Mint, held with the NSW Chapter of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA).

AILA CEO Ben Stockwin and Landscape Foundation of Australia Director Linda Corkery addressed the gathering, and the Piatto Chair launch was celebrated with enthusiasm in a competition to pose with the product for an Awkward Family Photo.

Spruce & Gander CEO Suzanne Anderson said: “Bringing some of our top clients from California and Texas to Sydney to see the quality and attention to detail of Street Furniture Australia’s operation first-hand was a must-do in our eyes.

“These products are designed, extensively tested and manufactured to withstand the demands of public use. It was wonderful to share this experience with our clients and we hope to extend this offering to more specifiers.”

MJS Landscape Architecture Senior Project Manager Mike Olson said: “All the scheduled events were perfect environments to talk and ask questions.”

The Sydney trip will again run for US clients in March 2025. Landscape architects in California and Texas will have a chance to win their spot by booking a Studio Workshop with our partner Spruce & Gander.
