Pokolbin Village NSW, Australia (2020)

Pokolbin Village has refreshed its boardwalk dining area to accomodate more socially-distanced diners in comfort outdoors, with settings that have been “very well received” by new and old guests.

The company offers accommodation in the Hunter Valley with a ‘village’ atmosphere – featuring an artisanal food and wine hub onsite.

Guests can browse the specialty shops – which include Fawk Foods Kitchen and Bakery, Pokolbin Bottle Shop, Pokolbin Chocolate Co and the Hunter Valley Smelly Cheese Shop – then relax and dine in the outdoor boardwalk area.

Five new settings of Park DDA Tables with DDA Benches have been installed, with wheelchair access on both ends of the tables.

To maintain the warm feeling of the boardwalk, while withstanding high traffic and requiring only a wipe-down with water for cleaning, the owners have selected aluminium woodgrain battens in Spotted Gum for the settings.

The frames are powdercoated in Textura Monument, also a highly durable and easy to clean material.

“Very well received” – post on the Pokolbin Village Accomodation Facebook page.

Landscape Architect Ian Bentley led the design for Council, he says, “Before Rowan Robinson Park there wasn’t a place in Kingscliff for large gatherings, to watch bands, to accommodate thirty kids at a birthday party or a place to hang out and watch others pass by. With its completion the community now …
