Harmony Park, Octave at Junction Village

The community of Octave at Junction Village, a development in South-East Melbourne, can enjoy relaxing in the sunshine and connecting with nature for both physical and mental wellbeing at the newly opened Harmony Park.

Designed by landscape architects GbLA, and constructed by LDTotal, Harmony Park aims to enhance the community’s connection to nature, with the site’s links to the conservation area and habitat of the endangered Southern Brown Bandicoot.

The 1.05-hectare reserve is furnished with a suite specified by GbLA to complement the landscape, supplied by Street Furniture Australia. GbLA chose the Linea range with its sleek minimal forms, including Linea Seats, Linea DDA settings and Linea Platforms.

GbLA senior landscape architect Gemma Ashley says, “We coordinated with Street Furniture Australia to customise the Linea seats with armrests in a brass metallic powder coat, and frames in a black powder coat to create a bold finish.”

The brass on the seats is a special extra, inspired by art deco sculptures, and is paired with eco-certified hardwood battens and Night Sky frames.

The park also features a playground for children of all ages, with a design that references the Southern Bandicoot. Gemma Ashley says, “The custom-designed cubby and series of play tunnels are representative of bandicoot burrows and their natural habitat.”

The playground also includes carved timber bandicoot sculptures by artist Glenn Romanis.
