Landscape Technical

Street Furniture Australia was pleased to be involved in AILA’s new Landscape Technical CPD sessions. Landscape Technical provides a forum for presentation and exhibition of industry information in an educational and inspiring format. The sessions offer landscape architects the opportunity to learn about the latest trends and research from Australia’s leading suppliers in one jam-packed session.

During February and March, Landscape Technical sessions were hosted at each state by individual State AILA Chapters. On Thursday, 19 March, the NSW event held two presentations: ‘Designing and Selecting Outdoor Exercise Solutions for People of All Ages’ by Harri Makela, Managing Director of Lappset Australia, and ‘Designing to Manufacture’ by Michelle Herbut, SFA Project Manager (Custom Product Sales). Michelle Herbut discussed the key steps in creating one’s own street furniture products ready for manufacture. The workshop covered all aspects of designing street furniture, including cost, risk minimisation, assembly, transport and maintenance.

See Landscape Technical for more information.

Why choose the original Linea over reproductions?

Successful products are often followed by copycats. Over the past year we have become aware of an increase in reproductions of the Linea range attempting to create a similar aesthetic at a lower price. This can compromise the overall durability and environmental credentials of projects being delivered, affect ongoing maintenance requirements, and in some instances pose a risk of injury to the public. The design of Linea is deceptively simple while delivering exceptional attention to detail. Details matter not only for beauty, but also for providing durability, and safety, that will last decades. Linea strictly uses the highest quality and sustainable materials, has passed rigorous strength tests, and is designed for longevity, with easily replaceable parts. The product range is the result of hundreds of hours of research and development …

Climate Active™ is the only Australian government-backed carbon neutral certification programme for businesses to measure, reduce, and offsets their carbon emissions. It is one of the most rigorous carbon-neutral programs in the world. An approved Emissions Reduction Strategy (ERS) is central to achieving certification through Climate Active. Street Furniture Australia has elected to use SBTi validated science-based targets to ensure their ERS is meaningful and aligns with the 2015 Paris Agreement – to limit global temperature rises to 1.5℃ above pre-industrial levels. For those emissions that can’t be …

The four-day conference program included the likes of David van de Leer, Natalie Jeremijenko and Jenny B Osuldsen talking all things landscape architecture in Melbourne on October 15 to 18. Visitors kicked off their shoes to enjoy the freshly rolled-out park lawn in Federation Square with SFA sun lounges, cafe tables and Forum seats in the shade of leafy trees planted in brightly coloured rim bins. To celebrate the launch of SFA’s Forum seats, a cross between a backyard and street furniture bench, delegates posted selfies with their favourite Forum to Facebook for a chance to take it home. AILA Festival: Forecast

Street Furniture Australia supports FORECAST Street Furniture Australia was invited to take part in Forecast: Festival of Landscape Architecture (16 – 18 October). The inaugural event, held at the State Library of Queensland, Brisbane, involved a program of participatory experiences and conversations designed to inspire and engage by re-imagining the way we meet and celebrate the profession, share our stories and learn through discourse and debate. Tract Consultants conceptualised the Forecast Festival HUB, a place for delegates to gather, eat, relax, celebrate and share conversations and observations about the festival. The installation of the HUB referenced the Brisbane River, both metaphorically and physically, and shaped the library concourse for the three days and nights of the festival. The design is a collection of origami-like pieces that represent the flow of thought, an agent of …
