Street Furniture Australia hosted 30 people from various manufacturing backgrounds for a site visit at our Regents Park factory in Western Sydney. The event was organised by the Lean Network. Christopher Morgan, Production Manager with Street Furniture Australia, led the presentation. He gave examples of cellular manufacturing, process flow, ergonomics and safety, Kanban material replenishment, assembly jigs and fixtures specific to our factory. He showed a video of the Concourse Seat assembly process for Sydney Trains – a powerful demonstration of the effective application of ‘lean thinking.’ This philosophy focuses on the reduction of non-value-adding activities or waste and is derived mostly from the Toyota Production System.
