Splash ‘n’ Play Water Park, Providence QLD, Australia (2016)

The $3.4 million Splash ‘n’ Play Water Park, designed by Cardno Landscape Architecture and built by JMac Constructions, is the first of its kind in the Ripley Valley and a summer drawcard for local families.

“Our designers have created the park with elements of surprise that will keep even the biggest of kids amused,” Providence Director Michael Khan told the The Queensland Times.

“Children can race through a maze of aqua arches, misty mountains and giant gushers that spurt water towers unexpectedly from the ground.

“Our bigger kids’ zone will have 4m high water features that shoot water down to the ground. Anyone who enters the zone will be certain to get wet – and have a smile on their face.

“There’s even day beds where mums and dads can relax on the large seating platforms watching their children play.”

The day beds are Street Furniture Australia’s Mall Sun Lounges, with woodgrain aluminium battens in bush cherry.

Classic Galleria Settings with aluminium battens also feature under awnings for picnics in the shade, and matching Classic Galleria Seats are dotted around the park.

The 22,400sqm park also includes toddler water play with sprayers and mist, and a dry playground featuring a flying fox and elevated skywalk with rope bridge.

The new town of Providence will be constructed over 20 years across 670ha, approximately three times the size of Brisbane’s CBD. It is intended to be home to 20,000 people.

Anzac Park, Campsie

When Street Furniture Australia’s photographer ventured to the upgraded Anzac Park in Campsie, it was so crowded with happy families he had to postpone the shoot for a less busy time of day. The popularity of this park is a testament to its design, by Moir Landscape Architects, and implementation by contractor Sterling Group Services. The City of Canterbury-Bankstown commissioned the $575,000 upgrade, co-funded with ClubGrants, as the first of several playgrounds to be developed for its growing population. “Anzac Park Playground is one of the first major upgrades in the Canterbury region and, yes, there are plenty more in the pipeline,” says Daniel Walters, landscape architect with the City of Canterbury-Bankstown. “The playground upgrade at Anzac Park is significant as it is in the centre of our busiest town and has …

Mildura Water Play Park

The Mildura Water Play Park revitalises parkland along the Murray River, inviting families to relax and play in a prime riverfront setting. Mildura Rural City Council commissioned the project to revive a 10 kilometre stretch of public park as part of an $18.3 million upgrade of the river precinct. Landscape architects Tract Consultants, with contractors King Construction Group, transformed the space into a local hotspot that attracted 1000 visitors each weekend in its first summer. “Given the hot climate of Mildura a waterplay facility was identified as an activity; to use that as part of the wider masterplan would help encourage people back to the park and the river,” says Nigel Parker, associate landscape architect with Tract. The firm designed a 40 metre long artificial stream, laid out like a river delta …
