The development of the Ulladulla Terrace Walk saw the construction of a new arcade and a timber boardwalk leading to a marina in Ulladulla Harbour. Jubilee Playground by Sue Barnsley Design has been awarded the Medal for Landscape Architecture at the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects NSW 2014 Awards. The playground, in Glebe’s Bicentennial Park, is a whimsical community space for children. Nicknamed ‘the lost world’ by its creators, the park meets the increasing demand for inner city families to access outdoor play spaces. “Throughout the design of Jubilee Playground we were conscious of reusing and renovating site furniture and play equipment.” Street Furniture Australia provided a number of colourful Classic Plaza Seats to the site, in keeping with the pre-existing seating nearby. Wave benches, designed by Oculus, breathe new life into Camberwell Laneways. When the Boroondara Council looked at the dull, service-only laneways in the Melbourne suburb of Camberwell, it saw an opportunity to reflect the character of a community. What it ended up with had even greater potential: a blueprint for laneways that could revitalise the wider municipality. “There is a lack of public seating in the area, so we engaged Street Furniture Australia.” An initial trial took place in Market Lane, a thoroughfare leading from Burke Road to a car park, which hosts the Camberwell Fresh Food Market from Tuesday to Saturday each week. “It started as a thoroughfare where traders and the Rotary Club wanted to do something to liven it up and make it more useful “ says Boroondara …
