Princes Pier VIC, Australia (2011)

Princes Pier is a 580 metre long heritage listed timber pile pier constructed between 1912 and 1915.

The pier played a key role in Australia’s wartime and multicultural history as the departure point for Australian troops during the First and Second World wars and the first landing point in Australia for thousands of post-war migrants.

In 2011 Princes Pier underwent a $34 million refurbishment, funded by the Victorian Government, which was aimed at returning the once derelict structure back to the community as a new open and flexible public space. The restoration of Princes Pier is part of a broader plan to rejuvenate the Port Melbourne foreshore.

Lovell Chen, the heritage architects awarded the Princes Pier restoration project, chose Street Furniture Australia’s wide bollard due to its timeless shape and stylish stainless finish tying in perfectly with the pier’s final finished design.
