National Sales Conference 2014

Street Furniture Australia held the annual National Sales Conference in our new office and factory in Regents Park, Sydney.

Brainstorming new product ideas

To kickstart the event, we played Street Furniture Trivia and held a competitive model-making session. Trivia was fiercely fought by the various teams. Here are a few of the questions:

Q1. What famous design office did Darrel Conybeare work in prior to establishing SFA?
Answer: Charles and Ray Eames Office, USA.

Q2. What edible item was studied when designing the Monsoon Bin roof?
Answer: Pringle chip.

Q3. What does the swish symbol in our logo represent?
Answer: Relaxation, a seat and the letter ‘S’.

Q4. Which Street Furniture product appeared in the Coldplay music video The Stars in the Sky?
Answer: Classic Plaza Seat in red 2PAC finish.

Trivia was won by the Green team. Congratulations Merin, Nicole, Eddie and Mark.

Each team was given a Street Furniture Australia product image, some scissors, sticky tape, cardboard and plastic straws. Bill and Darrel, our directors, made up the judging panel. Impressed by the level of skill and teamwork, the directors took a long time to come to a decision.

Contest winner: Awkward Family Photo

To celebrate the unveiling of the Piatto Chair at our annual product launch party with AILA NSW in Sydney, Jazz at The Mint, clients were invited to enter this quirky contest. The competition called for teams to incorporate Piatto Chairs into an ‘Awkward Family Photo’ portrait, for a chance to win Piatto Chairs of their very own. Congratulations to the creative crew from Yerrabingin, who delivered the strongest awkward family vibes on the night. 120 landscape architects gather at the annual Jazz at The Mint

Clients from Sydney, Adelaide, California and Texas joined Street Furniture Australia and AILA NSW to celebrate the unveiling of new products on March 14, 2024, with margaritas and live music. Jazz at The Mint is an annual product launch held at The Mint, an iconic site in the heart of the Sydney CBD. It is an elegant affair and a unique opportunity to connect with landscape architects and built environment professionals at a global scale. Runners brave JP Morgan Challenge

Sydney’s Centennial Park hosted 8,335 runners from 341 companies for JP Morgan’s Corporate Challenge, a charity run to bring employees together and support the Indigenous Marathon Foundation. CM Group sent a team of 29 participants to take on the 5.6km race course, through the rain, with a record number of runners for the Sydney event despite the wet. Team captain Tomas van der Meer says the Challenge brings together staff across the group, from CM+, Context and Street Furniture Australia. RSL revives memorial fountain

War memorials in towns across the country are being restored to honour the Centenary of Anzac, with a new drinking fountain the latest upgrade to Taree’s Fotheringham Park. The original fountain was installed in 1960 by the Manning River Air Force Association, but fell into disrepair. Some 55 years later an Arqua Drinking Fountain from Street Furniture Australia takes its place, providing running water again with disabled access and a special feature for pets. Darcy Elbourne, senior vice president of the Taree RSL, which is leading the upgrade, says the fountain is both a valuable memorial to air force personnel and a functional asset for the park. SFA Presents to Leading Manufacturing Experts

Street Furniture Australia hosted 30 people from various manufacturing backgrounds for a site visit at our Regents Park factory in Western Sydney. The event was organised by the Lean Network. Christopher Morgan, Production Manager with Street Furniture Australia, led the presentation. He gave examples of cellular manufacturing, process flow, ergonomics and safety, Kanban material replenishment, assembly jigs and fixtures specific to our factory. He showed a video of the Concourse Seat assembly process for Sydney Trains – a powerful demonstration of the effective application of ‘lean thinking.’ This philosophy focuses on the reduction of non-value-adding activities or waste and is derived mostly from the Toyota Production System.
